The older we get the more health conscious we are. The good news is that, leading a healthy and fit lifestyle does not have to be all that difficult! Alot of people believe that staying healthy involves working hard. This is not the case. The truth is that it really takes more effort to make yourself lazy than it does to stay fit. Drink plenty of water. Most physicians and dietary experts recommend drinking at least 8 eight ounce glasses of water each and every day. Proper hydration is important for so much more than just good health. Your body can better defend against disease if it’s well hydrated. Water keeps your body properly functioning. Water accounts for a large part of the human body. There are no calories in water so when it’s substituted for other drinks you’d normally consume, you’re already eliminating calories from your diet. You can actually lose up to five pounds a year by drinking cold water daily without cutting out other drinks. How many times have you heard that you need to get regular exercise? That’s because it’s true. You must get regular exercise. Your body requires regular movement to avoid becoming lethargic. Regular movement helps to keep your energy level up. This helps muscles stay healthy. Exercise keeps your blood pumping which keeps your organs functioning and your blood vessels open. You don’t have to exercise because you want to be buff. You exercise because you need to stay alive and exercise and regular movement will help you do that.

Your workout should include the whole body. A few people think all they have to do is lift weights once in a while to stay healthy. Not true, you need more than that. Your muscles, bones and cardiovascular system need to be worked out too. Training in strength, endurance and cardio are all part of a good workout. It seems like a lot but there are ways that you can work all of that into a single thirty minute workout. It’s worth your time to get healthy.

There are lots of things that you can do to make sure that you stay as healthy as possible. From eating the right types of foods to consistent exercise and all things in between. Reducing your stress, finding time to relax, regular bathing-it all contributes to your health and fitness. If you utilize the techniques we just learned about, you should be well on your way to become a fitter and healthier person. Then all you need to do is use your common sense.
